Stitching galore

It's been a while since my last post. But I have been stitching in the meantime. I was inspired by Tanya of The Scarlett House blog to start Rebecca Robinson. If you go to her blog, you'll see Rebecca almost completed. Isn't it gorgeous? Well, I'm stitching her now too. It's funny, cause Tanya starts stitching in the middle and I always start at the top left hand corner. So I get to see my border before anything else, and Tanya is almost finished but is working on the border last.

I'm also using the AVAS called for and 40ct. Heritage linen by PTP. I think -- but I may be wrong -- that Tanya is using an NPI conversion and 40ct Buttercream linen from Lakeside.

I love the angel or whatever it is at the top. I'm going to think of her as an angel since angels are my thing.

Because of my enthusiasm for Rebecca, I neglected to start the Sail Away SAL in which I'm participating on the start day. I even forgot that it was the 5th when it was the 5th! :D Anyway, the SAL was organized by Terri of Chocolates for Breakfast, Stitching for Lunch and Loraine 0f Sew Be It. But I finally pulled everything out Saturday morning and got going on our first assignment. And I finished it just now.

I'm a rebel -- I'm ignoring the fact that I should be using the 32ct fabric included in the kit and am using 40ct PTP Legacy linen instead. This, of course, means that I won't be able to use the charm, button or sheep button that came in the kit. But I'll worry about that later. :D I just couldn't face the larger count linen and so I decided that if 40ct linen was what I needed to get going, that was what I would use.

Finally, I wanted to mention that Patti of Tapestry of Dreams is having a fantastic giveaway to celebrate the birth of her grandson Oliver. Patti, huge congratulations to you! Click on Tapestry of Dreams and it'll take you to her blog and the giveaway. I think if you click on the above picture, you should be taken to her giveaway as well, but I may be wrong. The prize is a kit to make the beautiful Lauren Sauer piece shown in the picture above. Which, of course, I covet. I believe it's one of Lauren's teaching pieces.

Well, vacation is done, and school starts in -- gasp -- about 3 1/2 weeks. It starts early this year. I would actually like the summer to be a bit longer. Oh well. The girl child doesn't have to go back to college till around September 12, and her classes don't start till September 17. Lucky her.

Well, enjoy your Sunday evening and the start of the week! Thanks for stopping by and saying hi.

Margaret, your new sampler is just beautiful. I love the colors and the angel too! And, good on the SAL. You can stitch it on any count of fabric you like...it's your piece girl. And thanks for the info on the giveaway. I'll check that one out. Keep on stitching on...you are an inspiration and enabler to me!! AND I LOVE IT!!

Well, Margaret, indeed it seems strange that summer holidays are almost at an end. This summer seemed to have gone faster than ever!

You've gotten lots done on Rebbecca and she looks lovely! And I see you did break down & started the Sail Away SAL. I love that piece but knew that I would be hopeless with a SAL.

Anyway, have fun stitching & I will definitely email you about my current 'read'. Have a lovely week!

Oh, my! I love the sampler that you and Tanya are doing. And like you, I start in the top left and work down. This way, I get a lot of the border out of the way as I go. It's fun that you are each doing it your own way, and with the fabric/floss you like.

I'm not thrilled with the 32 ct on Sail Away either, but I decided that with the over-one, I'd keep it. I'm so thrilled about my other samplers that I've hardly paid it any attention, but I think it will be more fun once we get out of the writing and whatever berry vine thing that is, and into the quaker motifs, the sailor and the little "ocean" that looks like a dishpan. Hah! Although, I'm a rebel at heart, and I find I don't stitch well to a "deadline" (no one's going to fire me if I don't make it, but I try to comply), so we'll see how this goes.

So lovely, your sampler, and definitely an angel, I'd say.

Oh, don't remind me about summer's end. I only have 3 weeks and then my free time will be spent doing homework.

Your new project is just lovely. You and Tanya are making it hard for me to resist adding this one to my stash - can't wait to see more progress.

Wow, your Rebecca is simply gorgeous! I love the colors, and I would call her an angel, too.

Summer has a way of just rushing by, doesn't it?

Rebecca Robinson looks great and so does the SB Sail Away. I like your being unconventional with that. Makes it your own.

Have to tell you that after watching Tanya's progress on Rebecca I broke down and ordered the chart (along with a couple others). Dang, these blogs get you in a lot of trouble! LOL

But I love your progress on both of them and I know you'll be finished in no time!!

I agree with Deb about the blogs getting you in BIG trouble - I LOVE Rebecca - it looks fantastic with your silk and linen choice Margaret - your work is always so awesome. I have this SL on my short list to get however I just got my chart and linen for the Plantation Sampler so Rebecca will have to wait - I have not started the Sail Away SAL yet - always a day late (or a few days late LOL) I hope to start soon but I found a darling Prairie Schooler piece that was so close to complete - never know why I put it down - so I'm determined to finish that up since I already ordered a neat frame for it. Enjoy the fleeting days of summer - it cant be gone soon enough way down here in the sweltering south for me. Mel

You'd better not finish her before I do or else :)! Seriously, I cannot believe how much you have done. Just so you know, the angel on the top of the big house is supposed to represent Liberty, according to the chart. Also, I like starting in the lower right hand corner the most, but I do start in the middle sometimes.
